Leaman “Lee” Vincent K5LMH-SK

August 25, 1938 – January 3, 2016

Time to share a celebration of life, the life of a man who loved both people and nature. Leaman Vincent known to many as “Lee” enjoyed the outdoors. You could always find him mowing his lawn or pulling weeds, watering his plants or visiting with his neighbors. He was an avid gardener. He read books and even took classes to learn all the latest tips and secrets on how to grow the best organic food. He even rented space at a community garden and grew food for the underprivileged.

He had a big heart, always ready to help anyone in need whether it be family or friend. He was ready to lend a hand or a tool. Even opening his home to those who needed a place to get back up on their feet.

In 1964 he moved his family to Irving from Abilene. In 2014 he attended a Citizens Police Academy where he told the Police Chief that he was very proud to be a long time resident of Irving and he felt the police department did a fine job of keeping us safe.

Being a Ham radio operator, his fellow members of the Irving Amateur Radio Club knew him by his call letters K5LMH. Lee was an active member of this group which helped out in the community with various projects.

He retired in 2003 from Kroger where he had worked in the grocery industry for 38 years. This provided a stable income and security for his family, which included 5 children. Married to the love of his life for 59 years they were inseparable. As his oldest granddaughter, Rachel, said in her tribute to him on her Facebook page “they were like peanut butter and jelly” always enjoying whatever daily activity they were doing together. Kind of funny too because Lee loved his peanut butter. All the grandkids knew they could count on Papa to have peanut butter on the table.

He was always ready to pack his bags and hit the road. He was full of adventure and loved to go on road trips stopping along the way to visit small town museums and antique stores. Always finding fun and unique things to bring back home.

He has a new home now where he awaits our arrival. We will all miss him and remember all the great and corny jokes he told. May his legacy live on forever in our hearts.
