Stephen Salter KJ5MQE – Guest Presenter This Thursday

Join us this Thursday at 7:00 PM for our monthly IARC club meeting as we welcome our own Stephen Salter, KJ5MQE, as guest presenter.
Stephen will explore the differences between Amateur Radio and GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) — where they diverge, where they overlap, and how they can work together rather than compete.
For many operators, GMRS serves as an approachable first step into the world of two-way radio. It’s accessible, practical, and often family-oriented. That initial experience on the air frequently sparks curiosity and builds confidence, naturally leading some into the broader technical, experimental, and service opportunities that Amateur Radio provides. Rather than existing in separate lanes, these services can complement one another and strengthen the overall radio community.
Whether you’re a long-time ham, active on GMRS, or simply curious about both, this presentation promises thoughtful insight from a fellow club member who understands the value of each.
We look forward to seeing everyone Thursday at 7 PM.
IARC Supports Many Helping Hands

IARC is a financial supporter of Many Helping Hands (MHH), a non-profit organization that addresses the critical needs of the homeless community in Irving. They offer vital services including hot meals, clothing, hygiene, showers, laundry, haircuts, healthcare, ID assistance and much more. It is the first and only nonprofit to provide weekly homeless services in Irving. In addition, they provide transportation to/from their Day Center, Thursday night dinners, work programs, and healthcare appointments, ensuring accessibility for those who may otherwise face mobility challenges.
MHH will be conducting a garage sale Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th at the Bear Creek Church, 2700 Finley Rd, Irving. Join us then as we support those that support our community.
Items/donations may be dropped off at Bear Creek Community Church, located at 2700 Finley Rd, on any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
Wednesday Brunch Bunch
Join us every Wednesday at 10:00 AM for food, fellowship, and friendly conversation at Mama’s Daughters Diner, 2412 W Shady Grove Rd, Irving. All are welcome—bring a friend!
