This past year our club station trustee, Dennis Riise, K5AVT passed away, requiring our club to quickly submit forms to assign a new station trustee. Not knowing the process, I turned to the ARRL and looked at their Club Station FAQ [1]. Scanning the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), I found one that directly answered my question: “Our club license trustee died. What is the process that we use to notify the FCC of a new trustee?” It explained:

The FCC has privatized the Club Station Call Sign Assignment System. This means that the FCC does
not accept club station modification applications directly. Applications must go through a Club Station Call
Sign Administrator of which the ARRL VEC in Newington is one. There is no fee. The form MUST carry two
signatures, the new trustee and another officer in the club. When going through the ARRL VEC, use the
ARRL VEC Form 605-C.

So, my next step was to google “arrl vec form 605-c” (without quotes), which took me directly to the VEC 605-C form [2].

Reviewing the requirements, which are pretty basic, we selected a new Trustee and completed the form. Note, the Club Station Trustee form includes a question asking if the Trustee has ever been convicted of a felony, and provides guidance for the applicant to supply additional information on their felony conviction. For more information on this requirement, see this ARRL web page on the subject [3].

Additionally, you will need the club EIN or FRN number. If you don’t have the previous paper Club Station License, you can look up your current Club Station License on the FCC ULS website [4].

The final item to contend with is the requirement that the applicant secure a signature of another Club Officer. The application requests a copy of the current Club Station License, if available.

Once completed, the applicant is directed to return the form by mail, e-mail, or fax to any one of the three CSCSAs (ARRL, W5YI, W4VEC), and/or direct any questions to:
