Field Day: Ham Radio’s Annual Open House

Every June, over 31,000 amateur radio operators (or “hams”) across North America take part in Field Day by setting up temporary radio stations in parks, community centers, and other public spaces. It’s a nationwide event that showcases the science, skill, and community service behind ham radio.

Field Day brings together public service, emergency preparedness, technical know-how, and community outreach—all in one exciting weekend. First held in 1933, it’s now the most popular event in amateur radio.
