On October 21st, The Amateur Radio Relay League, along with participation and support from several local radio clubs will be hosting an event called MentorFest at the Betcha Bingo Hall in Irving, Texas.

What is MentorFest?

It is a day-long event packed with informative sessions presented by local amateurs on topics of interest to amateurs of all experience levels, as well as information tables where local clubs will be welcoming attendees to learn more about them.

What is MentorFest not?

MentorFest is not a hamfest in the traditional sense – there are no vendor or flea market tables.

What topics will be presented?

Currently, the following presentations are scheduled:

  • “Practical BaoFeng HT Radio Programming 101” by Bob, KG5SQJ
  • “Digital HF modes- PSK31/JT65” – Guy N7WSC
  • “AREDN- Amatuer Radio Emergency Digital Network” – Paul, KA5TYW
  • “DMR- Digital Mobile Radio?” – Jason Johnston, KC5HWB
  • “Inexpensive dual-band 2M/70CM outdoor J-pole – Don Murray
  • “CHIRP/RT to program their new HT” – Tom Yenny, K5LOL
  • “Intro to Soldering, Anderson PowerPole assembly, Coax cable connector assembly” – Ken, AC5EZ
  • “FSQ? What is it?” – Paul, KA5TYW
